Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin survived a genuine wreckfest and two red flags to win his second Daytona 500 in just four years in the 61st running of the Great American Race.
Driving the No. 11 FedEx Express Toyota Camry that was adorned with a tribute to the team’s late cofounder and Joe Gibbs’ son J.D. Gibbs, Hamlin held on to the lead in overtime to claim the victory.
“This one’s for J.D.,” Hamlin said after putting the No. 11 Fed Ex Toyota in Victory Lane. “The whole family — they did so much for me over the course of my career. This one is for J.D. We are desperately going to miss him the rest of our lives. His legacy still lives on through Joe Gibbs Racing and proud to do this for them."
Now the official Daytona 500 Win die-cast of Hamlin’s No. 11 FedEx Express Toyota Camry is available to order from Lionel Racing. Each is detailed with all the race damage and confetti seen on Hamlin’s car in Victory Lane. Plus each comes with a full-color collector card detailed with Hamlin’s race stats.
