I have been a NASCAR fan for many years. But being the only one in the family who liked it, I never really collected the diecasts. I grew up a Star Wars fan and in 1999, when Jeff Gordon drove the Star Wars Episode 1 car, I bought one of the 1/64 Pit Row series cars. My 1st 1/24 scale was the Jeff Gordon Star Wars Episode 3 car with Yoda on the hood. I still was not a collector, but I picked up the 2002 Jeff Gordon Looney Tunes car next, because who doesn't love Bugs Bunny, right? At this point I would try to watch the races as much as I could. Slowly I started rooting for Jeff Gordon and the new guy who drove the car Jeff Gordon was part owner of, Jimmie Johnson. Still, being the only NASCAR fan, did not get into collecting. Years later, I met my girl friend, who LOVES NASCAR and she had a small collection of Bill Elliot and Kasey Kahne 1/24s and other items she had picked up over the years. I had never even taken my cars out of the boxes before and she made room for my Gordons in her case, bottom shelf under her Kahnes and Elliots of course. Since then, our collection has grown. I look for special paint schemes and other cars she really likes and she has bought me my 1st 4 Jimmie Johnson cars. The cars in "my garage" are our cars and I am so glad we now have a way to post and share them with other fans.
