I started collecting NASCAR diecast long before RCCA existed; way back in the early 1980's when I was a kid. Well I guess collecting would be a false narrative, as I would "race" them against my other Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars. Back then the only drivers that had diecast cars were Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip, Cale Yarborough, and Bobby Allison. I joined RCCA in 1991, and I think I still have my original membership card somewhere. Anyways my first RCCA purchase was the Tim Richmond Fan Club car and poster. Yes I still have the car in it's original package, not sure where the poster is. My collecting interests are varied between NASCAR, NHRA, IndyCar (CART & IRL), F1, Sportscars, and passenger cars. At the conclusion of 2017 all of my favorite drivers will be retired: Richard Petty, Don Prudhomme, Bob Glidden, Darrell Waltrip, Al Unser Jr., and finally Dale Earnhardt Jr.
I'm not sure I have a favorite diecast, but just recently I was able to get Richard Petty's autograph on my Action Historical Series 1984 STP 200th win Pontiac. It was awesome to meet The King; his appreciation and demeanor with the fans is a great example for any aspiring, current, or retired athlete.
